The German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg offers three hybrid courses in the field of particle therapy. Endorsed by ESTRO, the courses are organized under the auspices of the Heidelberg Institute of Radiation Oncology (HIRO) in close cooperation with the Heidelberg Ion-Beam Therapy Center (HIT) as well as the University Hospital Heidelberg. The courses are for physicians with German language proficiency.
This course is designed for RTTs, physicists and radiation oncologists with at least two years of clinical experience and a basic understanding of the fundamental components of treatment planning, who wish to deepen their knowledge of IMRT planning techniques.Learn how to create the best treatment plans for your patients. Come and explore new techniques, focus on challenging scenarios and improve your understanding of every step of the planning process.
Prior to attending the on-site course, participants will be enrolled in a series of web-based modules, which will provide you basic knowledge of proton thearpy. During the course of the week participants discovr the history of the the Roberts Proton Therapy Center, review the fundamentals of proton therapy physics and technology, delve into the considerations for clinical operations, treatment planning, as well as the more specialized treatment of pediatric patients. The course includes observations and specific elements for Radiation Oncology, Physicists, Dosimetry, and Radiation Therapists
